Friend's Mandap Service

If you find yourself at Hawai Chowk in Jamnagar, you’ll see our place, Friend's Mandap Service. We are right opposite the Dena Ban near the Khambhalia Gate. It’s a part of the 361001 area that never seems to go quiet. The building we are in has been around for a long time and shows its age, but it’s sturdy. There’s usually a lot of dust from the road because of all the trucks and rickshaws going towards the gate. Inside, the space is often filled with poles, rolled-up fabrics, and other bits of gear we use. It looks a bit cluttered to an outsider, I suppose, but we know where everything is kept. The sign outside is a bit faded from the sun, but it still does the job. Being near Hawai Chowk means we have a front-row seat to all the local festivals and wedding processions that pass through. Sometimes the music is so loud that we can’t hear the phone ringing. We just keep working through it. Our neighbors are all local shopkeepers and we’ve all been here together for years. We don't have a polished showroom; it's more like a workshop where we get things ready for the next event. It’s a busy, noisy, and honest place to work. We just keep our heads down and get the equipment sorted every morning. The gate is a good landmark for people trying to find the shop.
