Our office is tucked away in Muktanand Society over in the Karelibaug area of Vadodara. If you are familiar with this part of Gujarat, you know it’s a busy spot but our corner is actually quite alright for getting work done. We are at house number 21. It’s where Essar Construction India Ltd keeps its local operations running for this region. We aren't doing anything flashy here, mostly just handling the day-to-day tasks that come with construction projects. Sometimes the office gets a bit cluttered with blueprints and old files, but we know where everything is. The team here has been around for a bit and we just focus on the task at hand. It’s a simple setup. You won't find any marble lobbies or receptionists in suits. We just have our desks and our computers and a lot of tea. Sometimes we stay late when a project deadline is coming up, and other times we finish up early if the heat gets too bad. We've been at this address for a long time now. People in the society know us as the construction lot. We try to stay out of the way and just do our jobs. It’s not a complicated life here in Vadodara. We just make sure the building work gets managed and the people on the sites have what they need to keep moving. Most of us have lived in the city for years and we like working close to home.
