Sanjay Brass

Plot 4706 in Phase-3 of the GIDC is where Sanjay Brass is located. In this part of the estate, almost everyone is working with metal, so the sound of the scrap collectors and the delivery trucks is constant. Our unit is focused on brass parts, so the whole place has a yellowish tint from all the metal shavings on the floor. We have several rows of small lathes and drilling machines that run for most of the day. The air is warm and smells like hot oil and metal. We aren't a high-tech facility with robots; it’s all manual work done by people who have been doing this for years. We sort the finished parts into plastic bins and move them to the weighing scale before they get packed into bags. The desk near the door is where the daily production gets marked down on a whiteboard. We don't have a website or any marketing brochures. Most people just know we are here because they’ve seen the sign on the gate or heard about us from other shops in Phase-3. We keep our overheads low and just focus on the orders we have in front of us. At the end of the day, we sweep up the brass shavings to be recycled and lock up the big rolling gate. It’s a basic, functional way to run a business, and it works for us. We’ve been in this spot for quite a while now.
