K. D. Brass Industries

We are located over at Plot No. 44 in Dared, Gidc. Jamnagar is famous for brass, so we’re just one of many units in this area doing this kind of work. The air always has that metallic smell to it, and you can hear the lathes spinning from the street. Our shop is pretty much like any other brass unit around here. We have piles of scrap and finished parts sitting in different corners. It gets quite hot in the summer, especially near the furnaces. We don’t have a fancy reception area; you just walk in past the main door and you’re right in the middle of the production floor. The guys working the machines have been doing this for a long time, so they can practically do it with their eyes shut. We focus on getting the dimensions right and making sure the brass looks decent before it goes out. Sometimes the supply of raw material is a bit slow, but we manage. There's a lot of dust and grease, but that's just part of the job. Most of our neighbors are doing similar work, so there's always someone to borrow a tool from if we're in a pinch. It’s not a quiet place, and the floors are always stained with oil, but it’s where we spend our ten hours a day. We keep the ledger in a small wooden desk near the entrance. It’s simple, honest work that keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. Sometimes we stay late on Fridays too.
