Our shop is located out in GIDC-3 in Dared, right in the heart of the Jamnagar brass hub. If you walk down the lane toward Plot No. 3442, you’ll smell the hot metal and hear the constant clinking of brass parts being turned on the lathes. It’s a noisy area, but that is just how things go around here. Inside, the floor is usually covered in small golden shavings from the morning’s work. We mostly deal with small brass components that need a lot of attention to detail. The guys on the machines have been doing this for a long time, so they can practically do it with their eyes shut, though I tell them not to. We keep a big water cooler near the entrance because it gets incredibly hot during the summer months in Gujarat. There is no air conditioning in the main work area, just big open doors to let the breeze in when there is one. We don't have any big meetings or anything like that. We just look at what orders came in, get the brass rods ready, and start the machines. Usually, we are busy packing boxes for dispatch by the afternoon. It is a simple operation, really. We just show up, do the machining, and try to get home before the evening traffic gets too bad on the main road.
