Basant

If you walk down Gurudwara Road, you’ll see us at G-18 in the Madhav Darshan building. The name on the door is just Basant. It’s a lively spot to be because the road is always busy with people heading to the Gurudwara or just going about their shopping. Our shop is on the ground floor, which makes it easy for people to just pop in. We don't have any big fancy displays, just the items we sell sitting on the shelves. Sometimes we sit outside on a stool when it’s quiet, just watching the traffic go by. The Madhav Darshan building has been around for a long time, and we’ve seen a lot of shops come and go, but we’ve stayed put. Inside, it’s a bit cramped because we try to keep a lot of stock on hand. We spend the day talking to regulars and keeping the place tidy. There’s no big corporate strategy here; we just try to be helpful and get the job done. If something is out of stock, we tell you, and if we can get it, we will. The floor is a bit uneven in the back and the ceiling fan makes a clicking noise, but it’s our space. We’ve grown fond of this little corner of the world. It’s a simple business, run by people who live nearby and care about what they’re doing without making a big fuss about it.
