Patel Engineering

Patel Engineering is situated at Plot No. 14 in the Gidc Industrial Estate, right off the Okha Highway in Arambhada. Being so close to the highway means there is a constant sound of traffic, which you stop noticing after a few hours. The air here sometimes smells like the sea and engine oil mixed together. Our workshop is a big open space filled with heavy equipment and parts that are waiting for repair or assembly. It’s not a clean place, to be honest. There’s grease on the door handles and the floor is stained from years of work, but that’s just the nature of engineering. We spend a lot of our time looking at blueprints or measuring things with calipers. It’s slow work sometimes, and you have to be patient when something doesn't fit quite right the first time. We aren't a big team, so everyone knows exactly what the other person is doing. We don't have any fancy brochures or a marketing department. If people need something fixed or built, they just find us here. Usually, one of us is under a machine or leaning over a lathe. We take our lunch breaks together out front when the weather is decent. It’s a straightforward way to make a living, and we’ve been doing it this way for a long time without much fuss. We just keep the gates open and get to work.
