G A Khan & Sons

G A Khan & Sons has been operating out of Wanabal Nowgam for a long time. We are right by the water tank, which is a landmark everyone knows in this part of Srinagar. It’s a family business, passed down through the generations. We do a bit of everything here, mostly related to general trade and supplies for the local community. The shop is full of old ledgers and wooden shelves that have seen better days. We aren't interested in being a big corporation. We like knowing our customers by their first names. Sometimes the winters here make things very difficult, especially with the heavy snow, but we try to stay open for those who need us. We have another connection over in the Malkajgiri R. R District area, so we are often coordinating between the two spots to keep things moving. It keeps us busy all week long. My sons are learning the ropes now, just like I did when I was younger. We don't have any fancy mission statements or slogans. We just show up, open the doors, and see what the day brings our way. Sometimes we have tea with the people who stop by even if they don't actually buy anything. That is just how we do things in this neighborhood. It is a practical way to live. We value the relationships we have built over many decades.
