Our place, Melith Pharmaceuticals, is located below Gumat on Jewel Road in Jammu. If you know the 180016 area, you probably know how busy Jewel Road can get. It’s a central spot, and we’ve been operating out of this location for a good while. The shop isn’t very large, but we make the most of the space we have. There are shelves reaching up to the ceiling, all packed with various medicine packs and supplies. Jammu gets quite hot in the summer, so we keep the fans going all day long. We see a lot of people passing by on their way to the market or the bus stand. Sometimes it feels like the whole city walks past our door. We spend our time checking expiry dates, writing out bills by hand, and talking to the regular customers who come in. It’s a straightforward business without any hidden layers. We aren't trying to be the biggest or the most modern place; we just want to keep things running smoothly. The traffic outside is a constant hum that we don't even notice anymore. On winter mornings, the fog makes everything look quiet until the shops start opening up. We open the shutters early and start by cleaning the counter. It’s a routine that we’ve grown to like. We’re just a small piece of the puzzle here on Jewel Road, doing what we do every single day.
