Mata Kamal Kour Charitable Foundation

Our charitable foundation is run by Balbir Kour and we are located in Indra Nagar, Sheikh Bagh. It’s a nice little corner of the area and we’ve been here for quite some time now. We don't have a flashy office with glass walls. It’s more of a home-style setup where people can feel comfortable coming in. We do a lot of our planning sitting in the main room. Sheikh Bagh is a good place to be because it’s central but still feels like a neighborhood. We focus on charitable work, but we don't like to make a big show of it. We just look at what needs doing and try to find a way to make it happen. Sometimes that means running around town to get supplies, and other times it’s just sitting and filling out forms. We are just regular people, not some corporate entity. Balbir keeps us organized, though things can get a bit chaotic when several things happen at once. We don't mind the mess though. It shows we are actually working. We like the fact that people can just knock on the door and talk to us. It makes the work feel more real. There’s no big hierarchy here, just a few of us trying to help out our neighbors. It is just the way we have always done things here in Indra Nagar.
