Mahajan & Co.

We are right in the middle of the Marble Market. If you’ve ever been down here, you know it’s a dusty place with trucks constantly moving big slabs of stone around. Our spot for Mahajan & Co. is just one of many, but we’ve been part of this market for a long time. The air always has that fine white dust in it, and you can hear the sound of saws cutting stone in the distance. We don't have a polished office; it’s more of a place where we keep our ledgers and talk to people who stop by. The floors are, naturally, made of stone, but they aren't always clean. We spend a lot of time discussing orders and checking on deliveries. It’s a tough environment because of the heat and the physical nature of the marble business, but we like the community here. Everyone knows everyone else in the market. We sit on old wooden chairs and usually have a stack of papers on the desk that needs sorting. There’s no air conditioning, just a big pedestal fan that moves the warm air around. We aren't here to impress anyone with a fancy setup. We just handle the business side of things and make sure the accounts are right. It’s a long day from sunrise to sunset, but that’s the way the market works. We just take it one slab at a time and keep things moving along as best as we can.
