If you walk down toward the J&K Bank in Srinagar, you’ll find Devgan Ayurvedic Treatment & Research Center. It’s been here for a while now. The inside smells mostly like dried leaves and some oils we use. We keep things pretty simple. There are chairs for people to sit while they wait their turn. Sometimes it gets a bit loud outside with the traffic, but inside we just focus on the work. My desk is usually covered in papers and some glass jars. Most folks around 180001 know the spot. We don’t have fancy rugs or anything, just what is needed to help people out. Ayurveda is something we’ve spent years looking into, and the research side of things takes up a lot of the back room. You might see some old books on the shelves that look like they’ve seen better days. When the weather gets cold in Srinagar, the tea is always hot in the corner. People come in from all over the city. It’s not a big corporate place. It’s just us doing what we know. We try to keep the floors clean and the lights bright enough so people can see where they are going. There’s a rhythm to the day here, starting early and staying until the sun goes down. It feels like part of the neighborhood, and that’s how we like it. We aren't trying to be anything other than a local spot where people can find some traditional help through the years.
