Defence, Indian Air Force

We are part of the Indian Air Force, working out of the Detachment Commander Dett 23 Provost and Security Unit. You can find us at the Air Force Station in Satwari, Jammu. The pin code is 180003. Living and working in Jammu and Kashmir means we have to be ready for all kinds of weather and situations. Our main focus here is on security and making sure the station runs without any trouble. It’s not a fancy job. We spend a lot of time on our feet and keeping an eye on things. The unit is like a small community where everyone knows everyone else. We eat at the mess and spend our days following the protocols that have been in place for a long time. It’s a lot of routine, but it's important. We don't have any slick brochures or websites to show off. We just have our uniforms and the work we do every single day. The mountains are nearby, which makes for a nice view when things get stressful. We just keep to ourselves and do our duty as expected. Sometimes it gets quite cold, especially in the winter, but we just bundle up and keep moving. There’s no room for shortcuts here. We just want to make sure the base is safe and everything is in order before we turn in for the night. It is simple work but we take it very seriously.
