Bunty General Store

If you go to Gandhi Nagar and look right opposite the Laxmi Narayan Mandir, you’ll see Bunty General Store. We are at No 497-A. It’s a small shop but we try to keep it stocked with everything the neighborhood needs. We’ve got snacks, soap, flour, and all the usual stuff. It gets very busy in the mornings when people are headed to the temple or to work. I’ve been running this place for a long time now. The shelves are a bit crowded and sometimes I forget where I put the smaller items. My family helps out when they can. We don't have a fancy computer system for the stock; I just write things down in a notebook or remember them. The bell on the door rings all day long. It can be tiring standing on my feet for twelve hours, but I like talking to the regulars who come in every day. The temple across the street brings in a lot of people on festivals. Those days are the busiest and the shop gets quite messy with people moving things around. We don't do any advertising. People just know we are here. It’s a simple life running a general store. I just want to make sure the shelves stay full and the customers get what they came for. Every evening I sweep the front step and count the till before going home.
