Book Hut

Our little shop, Book Hut, is located at 528 A in Subhash Nagar. We are quite close to Sharika Peeth, so we get a lot of people passing by on their way there. The space is filled with books, as you might expect. They are stacked on shelves and sometimes even on the floor when we run out of room. It has that specific smell of old and new paper that you only find in places like this. It’s not a big corporate bookstore where everything is perfectly categorized and alphabetized. Sometimes a book ends up in the wrong section, and you have to hunt for it a bit, but that’s part of the charm. We spend our days unpacking boxes and talking to people who just want something good to read. The lighting isn't the brightest, and the wooden counter has a few scratches from years of use. We don't have a computerized inventory system that tells us everything in a second; we mostly just know where things are because we put them there ourselves. Subhash Nagar is a decent place to be, and being near the Peeth means it’s usually a calm atmosphere. We sit on our stools, drink our tea, and wait for the next person to come through the door. It’s a simple life surrounded by stories. We aren't trying to be anything other than a local spot for books.
