Pujari & Company

At Pujari & Company, we have been operating from 1102, Terdal Road in Jamkhandi for quite some time. The building is old but it stays cool in the summer which is nice. We handle a lot of different things here, mostly acting as a middleman for various goods. Jamkhandi is a small place so news travels fast and everyone knows everyone else’s business. We have a lot of walk-ins from people who live along Terdal Road. The office is full of old ledger books and stacks of papers because we still do a lot of things the old-fashioned way with pen and paper. I know some people use computers for everything now but we find this works okay for us. My father started this and now I am mostly the one looking after it. We have a couple of assistants who help with the heavy lifting and making tea for the visitors. It gets quite busy on market days when the farmers come into town. We don't really do any advertising. People just know we are at 1102. The shelves are a bit disorganized sometimes and the paint is peeling in some corners, but it doesn't bother us much. We just focus on the people who come through the door. It’s a steady life. We open at nine and usually close up by seven unless there is a late delivery we have to wait for.
