Chopra Industries

The Sangariya 1st Phase is a pretty rough-and-tumble place. It’s part of the RIICO Industrial Area, so there’s always smoke or dust in the air. At Chopra Industries, we operate out of Factory No. H 2-159. The building is just a big shed with a high metal roof. When it rains, the sound is so loud you can’t hear yourself think. We have several machines that run for most of the day. They make a lot of noise and vibration. The workers are used to it, though. We spend a lot of time checking the machines and making sure they don’t break down. Sometimes they do, and then everything stops until we can get someone to fix it. The floor is covered in bits of scrap and oil stains that won't come out. We have a small corner with a table where we keep the records. The ledgers are full of numbers and dates. It gets really hot in the summer, so we have these big industrial fans that mostly just blow the hot air around. We eat our meals together in the shade of the back wall. There’s a tea stall just down the road that we go to twice a day. It’s hard work, and the days are long. We stay until the last batch is done, which could be anytime. The night watchman usually arrives just as we are finishing up.
