Biswajit Chakraborty & Co. is located in Jamalpur village. Our place is very close to the Damodar River in the Purba Burdwan district. It is a nice, scenic spot to work from, although the river can get a bit wild during the monsoon season. We have been running this company from our village for quite a while now. We handle various local contracts and supply work. It is not a big corporate setup with glass walls and air conditioning; it is more of a traditional local office and a storage area for our materials. Most of the people around Jamalpur know who we are and what we do. We do a bit of everything that is needed in a rural area that is slowly developing. We do not use a lot of fancy English or marketing tricks to get our work. Most people come to us because they know where we live and they have known our family for years. We spend a lot of our time out in the field or working near the river banks depending on what the current project requires. It is a quiet life most of the time, but the work stays steady throughout the year. We just try to be fair with our prices and get the jobs finished on time. If you are coming from the main road, you just head towards the river and you will find us easily.
