We are located in Khemichak, which is in the Amarpur area of Banka district. It’s a fairly rural setting, which means the school feels very connected to the local land and the people living here. The building is a simple structure that serves its purpose well. Every morning, students arrive from the surrounding villages, some walking quite a distance to get here. We have basic classrooms with wooden benches and plenty of natural light coming through the windows. The atmosphere is usually quite calm, except for when the bell rings for lunch and everyone heads outside. In Banka, things move at a bit of a slower pace, and we reflect that here. The teachers are mostly people from nearby who understand the local life. We spend a lot of time on the basics, making sure the kids understand their lessons before we move on to the next chapter. The office is a small room where we keep all the records and where parents come to talk about their children’s progress. We don't have a lot of extra stuff, just the essentials for a decent education. There’s a sense of pride in seeing the kids learn new things and seeing them grow over the years. It’s a modest place, but it’s an important part of life for many families in Khemichak. We just keep doing our work, day in and day out, without any big fuss.
