RANGJALEE TEA FARMERS PRODUCER COMPANY LIMITED

Our group is out in Umacharanpur, which is part of Choto Salkumar in Jalpaiguri. Specifically, we are at Plot No-2077 in Khaw Chand Para. This is tea country, so most of what we do involves the local farmers here. We started this company because we wanted a way to manage things better as a group. Being in a village like Umacharanpur means everyone knows each other. We spend a lot of time out in the fields or meeting at the office to figure out the season’s plans. It’s not a fancy corporate setup. We have a simple building where we keep our records and meet up. The roads can be a bit rough during the monsoon, but that’s just how it is in this part of West Bengal. We deal with the daily struggles of farming, like weather and prices. It’s hard work, and there are days when things don't go as planned. We aren't trying to be some giant company; we just want to help our local tea growers get their stuff to market. People here work long hours. Sometimes we sit around a table and just talk through the issues we’re facing with the crops. It's practical stuff. We don't have a lot of office staff, mostly just people who know the land and the tea. It feels right being located right where the work happens, instead of in some distant city office. We take our time and do things carefully.
