Jai Jalpesh Hatcheries Private Limited

Jai Jalpesh Hatcheries is located over in Monipur, near Fatapukur in Jalpaiguri. Babla Dutta’s place is where everything happens. It’s a noisy spot most of the time because of the chicks, but you get used to the sound after a while. We spend a lot of our hours looking at incubators and making sure the heat stays where it should be. If the power goes out, we all have to jump up and get the backup running or things go wrong fast. It’s a lot of manual work, moving crates and checking eggs one by one. Our clothes usually smell like the farm, but that’s just the job. People from around the district come by to see what we have ready. We aren't trying to be the biggest place around, just trying to keep the birds healthy and the orders moving. The roads around here can get a bit dusty in the summer, which makes keeping everything clean a real chore. We have a small team of people who live nearby and help out. We mostly talk about the weather and how the feed prices are going. It’s quiet work in some ways but very busy in others. Sometimes we have a cup of tea by the gate when things slow down for a minute in the afternoon. Then it’s back to the sheds to finish up before it gets dark.
