Hindustan Construction Company Ltd. (Hcc)

Our office is over on New Circular Road in Jalpaiguri. It’s a busy little stretch of road. Hindustan Construction Company Ltd. (Hcc) operates from here, and it’s actually the residence of Mridulendu Ghosh's family. It’s a bit of a different setup because it feels more like a home than a strict business office. We’ve got files stacked up in the corner and a landline that never stops ringing. Jalpaiguri weather can be tricky, with a lot of rain that often puts a halt to our outdoor work. When that happens, we all huddle inside and catch up on the planning side of things. We aren't a giant corporation with thousands of employees; we are a small team that knows each other well. Most of us grew up around here in West Bengal. We know which suppliers are reliable and which roads get blocked when the river rises. It’s a lot of local knowledge that keeps us going. We don’t spend money on big ads. Usually, we get work because someone saw what we did down the street. We just try to be fair and do the work we said we would do. Sometimes things go wrong, a machine breaks or the sand doesn't arrive, but we just figure it out. It’s a practical life, and we are happy to be working in our own town. There is no need for anything fancy when you just want to build things that last.
