Dutta & Das Engineering Co.

Down here in Haiderpara, specifically on the Main Road near where Uttam Banik is, you’ll find our workshop. We are Dutta & Das Engineering Co. and we’ve been part of this District Jalpaiguri landscape for a long time now. The street can get a bit loud with all the trucks and people moving around, but inside the shop, we just focus on the machines. It’s a dusty kind of job, honestly. There’s always something that needs fixing or a part that needs turning. We don’t have a fancy showroom or anything. It’s just a practical space filled with tools and metal. My partner and I started this because we knew how to work with our hands. We don't spend much time on the computer or doing big advertisements. People just know we are here on the main road. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait it out, which is just part of living in Jalpaiguri I suppose. We take things as they come. If a job is hard, we just take more time on it. There’s no secret to it. We just show up every morning, open the doors, and see what the day brings. It’s a living, and it keeps us busy enough. We like the local feel of Haiderpara. It feels like home after all these years of working in the same spot.
