Megha Traders

You’ll find Megha Traders on Bagoda Road in Jalore, right near Hotel Tanu. Jalore is a big place for granite, so that’s mostly what we handle here. The stone from this region is famous, and we have a lot of it sitting in our yard. It’s a hot part of the country, and working outside all day really takes it out of you. We have a small crew and we mostly know our customers by their first names. People stop by on their way into town. We don’t do anything fancy with our displays. The granite is just leaned up against the frames like you’d see anywhere else. Sometimes the colors vary quite a bit from one block to the next, so we have to be careful when someone wants a large amount of the same shade. We spend a lot of time checking the slabs for spots or unevenness. My desk is usually covered in papers and samples of stone that people have left behind. We don't have any big corporate goals. We just want to sell the granite we have and make sure the people buying it aren't getting something they can't use. When it’s really hot, we close up for a bit in the afternoon and then stay open a little later when it cools down. It’s just the way things work here in Jalore, and we are happy to be part of the local trade.
