Jalnaarthkranti Urban Multipurpose Nidhi Limited

We are over here at Chagen Narayan’s place in Jalgaon Sakpaltal, right in the Bhokardan area. Jalnaarthkranti Urban Multipurpose Nidhi Limited started because we saw how folks in our town needed a simple way to manage their savings and maybe get a little help when things get tight. It’s not a big fancy operation with marble floors or anything like that. We just have a small office where we sit down and talk about what’s needed. Most of us grew up around here so we know the families and the struggles people face with farming or small shops. We decided to register as a Nidhi company because it lets us work within our own group. It’s mostly about members helping members. You come in, you talk to us, and we figure things out. Sometimes the paperwork gets a bit much but we try to keep it as straight as possible. It isn't always perfect and sometimes the power goes out or things get busy during market days, but we’re always here. We aren't trying to be some huge bank from the city. We just want to make sure the people in Bhokardan have a place they can trust that isn't miles away. It’s just a group of us trying to keep our money working for the town instead of it going somewhere else. We keep our doors open and try to be useful to whoever walks in from the village and wants to join up.
