Darak Snacks

Being at Shivaji Chowk is quite an experience every single day. Darak Snacks is situated right in Marwari Gali, which is a place that never really stays quiet for long. I spend most of my time here looking out at the street while we get everything ready for the afternoon rush. We have been in this spot for some time now and it feels like the walls have seen a lot of history. The space is small, but it works for what we do. People walking through the gali usually stop because of the smell of the food, and I enjoy seeing the regulars who have been coming here since they were kids. Shivaji Chowk is like the heart of this area, so there is always someone shouting or a scooter honking right outside the door. My hands are usually busy with dough or spices, and it gets quite hot in the back when the stoves are all going at once. We don't have a big fancy sign or anything like that, just the name and the food we make. Sometimes we run out of things earlier than expected because a big group comes in, and then we just have to tell people to come back tomorrow. It’s a simple way to make a living, and being in Marwari Gali means there is always a friend nearby to grab a cup of tea with when things slow down.
