Parmar Surgical Shoes

Our little shop is tucked away at Plot No 16 in the Wankhede Housing Society near Neri Naka. Parmar Surgical Shoes is a bit different from a regular shoe store. We don't sell those bright sneakers you see at the mall. Instead, we work on shoes that people actually need for their health or comfort. It’s quiet work mostly. You’ll see leather scraps and different types of foam lying around the benches. We sit there and sew or glue things together, making sure the fit is right. People come to us because they have trouble finding shoes that don't hurt. We listen to what they need and try to build something that helps. It’s not about fashion here; it’s about being able to walk without pain. Sometimes a customer stays for an hour just talking about their feet while we take measurements. We don't mind. It feels good to be part of the community in Neri Naka. Being in a housing society makes it feel more like a home than a factory. We know the neighbors and the kids who play outside. We’ve been at this for years, and our hands show the work. We don't have a fancy catalog. Most people just bring in their old shoes or a note from a doctor. We take it from there and do what we can with the tools we have. It’s a slow process, but you can’t rush this kind of thing if you want it done right. We just keep our heads down and sew until the light fades.
