Madina Book Depot

Madina Book Depot is located right near Ashraful Ali Masjid. If you are standing by the masjid, you can usually see us just a short walk away. It is a good spot because people are always passing by for their prayers. We keep a lot of different things on the shelves, mostly religious books but some other stuff too. The shop is small and can get a bit crowded when more than three people are inside at once. We have those old wooden shelves that go all the way to the ceiling. Sometimes I have to get the ladder out to reach something at the top, and it is always a bit wobbly. The floor is concrete and stays somewhat cool even when it is boiling outside. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us who take turns being here. We know the regulars who come in every week to see what is new. We usually have the radio playing softly in the background. It is mostly news or some old songs. There is no air conditioning, just a ceiling fan that makes a clicking noise every time it turns. It is a quiet kind of life here. We open up early and stay until the last prayer is over. It is not a place for rushing around. People come in, look at the pages, and talk for a while before they buy anything.
