Dilipkumar Hirachand & Co. is located at 108, Saraf Bazar in the Bhavani Peth area. This part of town is always crowded, and our shop is right in the middle of all that activity. We’ve been here for a long time, and the building shows its age a bit. We mostly deal with traditional trade items that have been handled in this market for generations. It’s a family-run kind of setup. There’s always someone sitting at the desk handling the ledger books. We still use paper for a lot of things because it’s just what we are used to. The atmosphere in Saraf Bazar is unique, with all the different smells and sounds of the market. We talk to our neighbors a lot and sometimes help each other out with small things. Our shop isn't modern by any means. We have old wooden cabinets and heavy doors that we lock up every evening. Customers come in and sit down to talk before even mentioning what they want to buy. That’s just the way business happens here. We don't have any slogans or big advertisements. Our name is on the board outside and that’s enough. We try to be fair with everyone who walks in. It’s a busy life in the Peth, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. We just keep doing what we’ve always done, day after day. It is a slow and steady process that has worked for us through the years.
