Dharmai Weavings Private Limited

We are out in Hated Kh, which is in the Chopda taluka of Jalgaon. It’s a rural area, mostly farmland around us. Our weaving work happens right here in the village. We have several looms that run throughout the day. The rhythmic sound of the weaving is something you hear the moment you walk near the building. It’s a family-run kind of thing, really. We grew up around these machines. Jalgaon gets incredibly hot in the summer months, so we start our work very early in the morning to beat the heat. By the afternoon, everyone is usually resting. We make various types of cloth that get sent to the bigger cities for finishing. We don't have a fancy office with glass doors. Our floors are concrete and there’s thread everywhere. You can't help but get it on your clothes. We’ve lived here all our lives, so everyone knows the Dharmai name. We don't spend money on ads. We just focus on making sure the weave is tight and the quality is okay. Sometimes the raw material delivery is late because of the roads, but we manage. It’s a simple way to earn a living. We take pride in the fact that we are still doing this in our own village. It’s not a big corporate life, but it’s what we know best and what keeps us going.
