Shiv Ricemill

You have to drive out to Village Khansbara near Behat to find us. We are right on Kalpi Road. Being out in the village means we are close to the farmers and the fields where the rice actually grows. The mill is a large shed where we spend all our hours during the season. It is very rural out here, so things move a bit slower than in the city, except when the harvest hits. Then it is non-stop work from morning until late at night. The air around the mill is always full of that specific smell of dried grain. We have some old machinery that we have kept running for years because it works just fine. The floor is mostly concrete and covered in a fine layer of dust. We do not have a website or anything like that; people just know us through word of mouth around Behat. We sit out front on plastic chairs when it is quiet and talk to the farmers who drop by. It is a basic operation, really. We take the paddy, process it, and bag it up. The road outside can get muddy when it rains, making it hard for the tractors, but we manage. It is just honest work in a small village setting. We have been doing this a long time and don't plan on changing much.
