Sarup Tanneries Ltd.

Sarup Tanneries Ltd. is situated out by Nakodar Road, right near the P.O. Ramdaspura. It’s an older part of the area, and we’ve been part of the landscape here for a long time. Working in a tannery isn't exactly a clean or easy job, but it’s what we know how to do. The smell of the hides and the chemicals is just something you stop noticing after the first week of working here. We have a lot of space in this facility, which we really need for all the different stages of processing the leather until it's ready. Nakodar Road is usually busy with traffic, so we hear the honking from the trucks and buses going by all day long. Being near the post office is handy for the mail, even though most things are digital now. Our office is just a small corner of the main building, filled with ledgers and some old samples that have been there since the nineties. We don’t really do the whole modern office thing with glass walls. It’s more about the boots on the ground and getting the hides ready for whatever comes next. Sometimes the power goes out for an hour or two and we just have to sit outside and wait it out, which is just how things go. We’ve got a small crew, and most of us have been working together for years. It’s a steady pace, not too fast, and we just make sure the work gets finished by the end of the shift.
