Roop Lal

My name is Roop Lal and I work over at the Dho O/0 Civil Surgeon office here in Jalandhar City. Our office is situated right in the heart of Jalandhar, ZIP code 144001. It’s a government building, so it has that typical look—lots of files, heavy wooden desks, and people coming and going with forms. I’ve been in this position for quite a while now. My day usually starts with a cup of tea and a look at whatever paperwork landed on my desk overnight. It isn't a glamorous job, but it is necessary for the city. Jalandhar is a big place and the Civil Surgeon’s office handles a lot of the behind-the-scenes stuff for local health. I mostly deal with the administrative side of things. The office can get a bit stuffy in the summer when the fans are just moving the warm air around, but we manage. I know most of the people who work in the nearby departments too. We all eat lunch together sometimes when it isn't too hectic. I like the routine of it all. There’s a certain comfort in knowing exactly what you need to do each day. If you need to find me, I’m usually behind the stack of folders in the main room. It's a plain, functional space where we just try to keep things organized. No big bells or whistles, just daily work in Jalandhar.
