Prime Leathers

Prime Leathers is located over at 147-149 in the Leather Complex on Kapurthala Road. If you know the area, you know it smells like leather and tanning chemicals all day long. We have a pretty large space here because leather takes up a lot of room. There are big rolls of hides everywhere and heavy machinery for cutting and finishing. It’s a noisy place when the machines are running, so we usually have to shout a bit to be heard. The office part is just a small corner partitioned off with some glass and wood where we handle the invoices. Kapurthala Road is always busy with trucks hauling goods, so there’s a lot of mud in the rainy season and dust in the summer. We don't spend much money on making the place look pretty because that’s not what we’re about. We’re about moving leather. We have a team that knows how to sort the different grades and we just spend our hours getting through the stacks. Sometimes we have customers come in to look at the skins, and they just walk right into the work area. It’s a very practical environment and we don't have any corporate slogans hanging on the walls. We just focus on the material and making sure we fulfill the orders that come through our door. It’s been our home for years and we’re used to the grit of the leather complex.
