Parkash Solar Energy Systems

Out here in Hargobind Nagar, near the Vpo Nurpur on Dhogri Road, things are a bit more spread out than in the city. We set up Parkash Solar Energy Systems because there’s plenty of open sky and sun around here. Our place is basically a workshop and a yard where we keep the panels and the mounting frames. We spend a lot of time outside, which is fine until the middle of summer when it gets really baking hot. You can see the dust kicking up from the road every time a tractor goes by. We aren't a corporate giant; it’s just a local operation where we put things together and make sure the batteries are charging right. A lot of our day is spent loading things into the back of a small truck and driving out to different sites. The office is just a small room with a desk and some old files, but we aren't in there much anyway. We usually have some tea sitting out, though it gets cold pretty fast when we get busy. We don’t use any big fancy words to describe what we do. We just help people get some power from the sun. It’s hard work, especially when you’re up on a roof, but it’s what we know. We just take it one job at a time and try to keep the equipment clean.
