Our shop is right on Railway Road, which is basically the heart of the city's noise. Being near the Railway Station means we see a lot of people carrying heavy bags all day long. If you look across from Puri Cycle, you’ll see our sign. The spelling on the board might look a bit different but we are here doing travel work every day. Jalandhar City is a place where everyone is in a hurry to catch a train. We spend most of our time at the desk, looking out at the cycles and the rickshaws passing by. The office isn't very big, so things can get a bit cramped when three or four people come in at once. We handle bookings and transport without any big fuss. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just sit and talk to the customers until it comes back on. It’s a very local way of doing things. We don’t have those fancy coffee machines you see in big cities. We just get a cup from the stall nearby. The 144001 area is old but it has its own rhythm. We’ve been here long enough that the shopkeepers next door are like family. We just keep our books in order and try to help people figure out their travel routes. It’s a lot of typing and phone calls, but that is how it goes on Railway Road every single day.
