Nandan Exports

Nandan Exports is located right at Plot No. 58 and 59 within the Leather Complex. This area has a very distinct smell because of all the tanneries and processing units nearby. We have two plots joined together to give us enough room for storing the raw hides and the finished leather goods. It’s a messy business sometimes. We wear heavy aprons and boots because the floors can get wet. My brother and I took over the place from our father. We spend a lot of time checking the texture of the leather. If it’s too dry or too oily, it won't sell. We have these large wooden tables where we spread everything out to inspect it under the lights. The office is upstairs, but honestly, we spend most of our time downstairs on the floor. It’s noisy with the fans going and the workers moving pallets around. We don't have a receptionist. If the phone rings, whoever is closest picks it up. Most of our day is spent dealing with suppliers and making sure the containers are packed tight. We’ve had some slow months when the global market dips, but we usually find a way to stay busy. It’s a tough industry but we know it well. The Leather Complex is our second home. We’re usually here from dawn until late in the evening and the work is never really done.
