We’re set up at Shop No 48 in the New Motor Market. It’s right near Aerodrome Circle, and if you see the Jalandhar Motor Company, you’re pretty close to us. The motor market is a loud, oily place to work, but it’s where all the action is. There are shops all around us doing similar things, so there’s always the sound of hammers or engines revving. Our shop is basically just one big room filled with parts and equipment. We’ve got a workbench that’s seen better days and a stool that wobbles if you sit on it wrong. We spend our days dealing with whatever comes through the door. Some days it’s quiet and we just organize the bins, but most of the time it’s pretty frantic. We don’t have any air conditioning, just the breeze coming through the open shutter. It gets pretty dusty with all the traffic from the circle, so we’re always wiping things down. We know most of the other guys in the market, so we often trade tools or help each other out when someone is stuck on a problem. It’s a rough-and-ready kind of environment. We don’t have a fancy website or anything like that. People just know we’re here at number 48. We show up, do the work, and go home tired. That’s just the way it goes here at the market.
