Our center is on the first floor, SCF 12, near the Canara Bank in Urban Estate Phase 1, Jalandhar. It’s a place where people come when they are looking to get their skills checked before they head out for work elsewhere. We have a few rooms set up for different types of tests. There’s some equipment for welding, some tools for electrical work, and space for people to show what they can do. It’s not a classroom setting really, more like a workshop. The walls have some posters about safety and some old certificates. We spend a lot of time watching people work and marking down how they do. It’s important for them to get these papers so they can find better jobs. We have a small reception area where people wait their turn. It’s usually busy in the mornings when the first batch of testers arrives. The air smells a bit like metal and grease sometimes because of the practical tests. We’ve got a couple of desks for the paperwork part of things. Jalandhar is a big hub for this kind of thing, so we see a lot of different people every week. We just keep the tools in good shape and make sure the tests are done properly. It’s a practical place for practical people. We drink a lot of tea while we wait for the results to process. It’s just the way things are done here at the Gulf Training And Trade Test Centre.
