We are based at 158-159 in the Golden Cloth Market, Ajit Nagar. Our name is the Gandhian Initiativefor Development Ofsupport Services Foundation. It’s a bit of a mouthful, we know. Most people just call us the foundation office. Being in the cloth market means it's always noisy and there’s always something happening right outside the door. We try to follow some simple ideas about helping people in the community get on their feet. It’s not a polished corporate setup. We have old desks and the tea is usually lukewarm because we get busy talking. We provide various support services to anyone who walks in. A lot of the workers from the market come to us when they have a problem or need some advice on paperwork. We don't have a big fancy website or glossy brochures. We just do the work. Some days are really slow and we just sit around chatting, but other days we can't keep up with the people coming in. It’s a very local operation. We’ve been here in Ajit Nagar for a while now and we know most of our neighbors. We aren't looking to grow into a massive organization. We just want to do right by the people here in the market and the surrounding area. It’s honest, simple work. Sometimes we stay late, sometimes we close early if there is nothing pressing.
