Gagandeep Singh Architect

My office is tucked away at 205 in Shaheed Capt.H.P.S. Dhami Nagar, though most folks around here just call it Cheema Nagar. It's right in the Model Town area. It’s a decent enough spot, though parking can be a bit of a nightmare on certain days. I spend most of my time sitting at my desk dealing with site plans or arguing with suppliers about why the tiles haven't arrived yet. The space is filled with rolls of tracing paper and a few models that have gathered a bit of dust on the shelves. It’s a one-man show mostly, though I have people who help out on specific projects. I’ve lived around here long enough to know how the local building rules work, which saves a bit of time. People from the neighborhood often drop in just to ask a quick question about a wall they want to knock down or a permit they can't figure out. I don't have a big sign or a glass front, just a door and a workspace where I try to make sense of whatever project is on the table. Sometimes I’m out in the sun at a construction site all day, and I come back here looking pretty rough. It’s not a glamorous job, despite what people think about architects. It’s mostly just checking measurements twice and hoping the weather holds up so the concrete can pour. I’ve been at this for a while now in this same spot. I usually keep a radio playing quietly in the background just to have some noise. The window latch is broken, so I use a piece of wood to keep it shut. It’s just how things are around here.
