Devender Sareen

This is Devender Sareen’s place at Sareen Hospital in Central Town. Being in the heart of Jalandhar means we are always surrounded by people and noise. Central Town is one of those places where everyone seems to know everyone else, or at least they recognize your face after you’ve been here a while. The hospital is where I spend most of my time during the week. It’s not always easy, working in a place like this. You see a lot of things every day, and some of it is quite hard. It can get stressful when the waiting room is full and everyone is looking for answers at the same time. I try to keep things calm, but sometimes the pressure gets to you. The building itself has been part of the area for a long time. 144001 is a busy pin code. I usually walk around the block during my lunch break just to get a bit of fresh air, though the air in Central Town isn't always the freshest with all the rickshaws and motorbikes passing by. We don't have a big marketing team or anything polished. It's just us here, doing the medical work and trying to help the people who walk through the doors. It's a lot of long hours and late nights. Sometimes you wonder where the whole day went. But at the end of it, we just close up and go home, then come back and do it again tomorrow.
