You’ll find Shalimar Coach Builders situated out by the Chuggiti By Pass. It’s a good location for us because there’s enough space for the bigger vehicles to pull in and out without causing a massive traffic jam. We spend our days working on frames and fitting out the interiors of coaches and other large vehicles. It’s heavy work, involving a lot of metal, welding, and manual labor. Our workshop isn't the cleanest place you’ll ever see, but it’s a working shop where real stuff gets built. We have a crew that knows how to handle the tools and follow a plan. The bypass can get really noisy with all the trucks going past, but we’re used to it by now. We started this business because we liked the idea of building something substantial that people actually use to get around. Every job is a bit different depending on what the customer needs for their bus or coach. We don’t have a front office with a receptionist; usually, you just walk into the yard and find one of us covered in shop dust. We don’t make things sound better than they are. We just build the coaches, make sure they’re solid, and move on to the next one. It’s been our life for years, and we’re happy to keep the torches running every morning. It's a tough trade, but we wouldn't want to be doing anything else right now, as it keeps us busy and connected to the road.
