Our place is on Nakodar Road, near P.O. Ramdaspura. Bawa Skin Company is deep in the heart of the leather area. If you’ve ever been around here, you know the smell—it’s very distinct and stays with you. We work with raw hides and skins, so it’s a very hands-on kind of business. There’s no sitting behind a desk all day for most of us. We are out there checking the quality of the skins and making sure the processing is going the way it should. The floors are often wet, and everyone wears heavy boots. It’s hard work and it’s dirty, but it’s what we know. Jalandhar is famous for this kind of thing, and we’re just one part of that long tradition. The office is just a small room at the front where we keep the accounts and talk to suppliers. It’s usually filled with the sound of the main road outside and the tractors going by. We don't have a website that looks like a million bucks because we’d rather spend that time on the floor. It’s a family-style environment where everyone just pitches in. When the weather gets humid, the work gets even tougher, but we just keep at it. We’ve been at this Ramdaspura location for a long time, and the locals all know where to find us if they need to talk business.
