Retractor Surgical Industries

Our workshop and shop, Retractor Surgical Industries, is located in Bania Bazar. We are in the Basti Sheikh area, right near the Neel Kanth Mandir. It’s a very traditional neighborhood with a lot of character. You can hear the temple bells clearly from our front doorway every morning and evening. Bania Bazar is always packed with people and the lanes are very narrow. We have been here for many years. We make and sell surgical tools. It’s very precise work, but our shop looks like any other old brick building on the street. We have heavy metal workbenches where the final finishing of the tools happens. There is a lot of metal clinking and the constant smell of grinding wheels in the air. It’s a family trade for most of us here. We sit on low stools or sometimes on the floor most of the day while we work. The area is very lively, especially during the local festivals when the temple is busy. We know the other shopkeepers next door very well and we often share a pot of tea. It’s a bit of an old-fashioned way to run a business compared to the big factories. We don't have a website or anything modern like that. People just know where Basti Sheikh is and they find the mandir. From there, we are just a short walk down the alley. It’s a busy, noisy, and very honest place to work.
