Leather Garment Centre

Our shop is at 52 Basti Nau, right near the Arora Ice Factory here in Jalandhar. Most people know where the ice factory is, so it makes finding us a bit easier when they are driving around. We work with leather mostly. When you walk into the shop, that’s the first thing you smell, that heavy scent of treated skins and jackets. It’s a small space and we’ve got racks of clothes everywhere. It can get a bit cramped when more than two people walk in at the same time. Jalandhar has always been a big hub for this kind of leather work, so we just fit right into the neighborhood. We spend our mornings checking the stitching on the garments and making sure everything is ready. The floors are a bit uneven and the lighting isn't the best in the back, but we get the job done. Sometimes the noise from the ice factory next door is a bit much during the day, but you get used to it after working here for a few weeks. We don’t really do any big advertising or anything like that. People just drop by because they’re in Basti Nau looking for something to wear for the winter. It’s a practical business. We drink a lot of chai and talk to the regulars who have been coming by for years. It’s nothing fancy, just a local spot where we handle leather goods and try to stay busy.
