Our shop is located in the Improvement Trust Market in Kapurthala, quite close to the Jama Masjid Complex. Being in a market area means there is always a lot of foot traffic and other traders nearby. It’s a lively place to be. We deal with all sorts of auto parts and accessories. The shop is packed from floor to ceiling with boxes, so it takes someone who knows the layout to find anything quickly. We don’t have a lot of extra space, but we make it work. Most days involve helping customers find exactly what they need for their vehicles. It’s a lot of back and forth, checking catalogs or looking through the shelves. The market has its own rhythm, starting slow in the morning and getting very busy by the afternoon. We usually have tea delivered from the stall nearby a couple of times a day. It’s a very traditional way of doing business here. We know our customers by name and they know they can just drop in. There is no corporate feeling to the place at all. It’s just us in the market, doing our thing every day. Sometimes the deliveries arrive late and we have to stay to get everything put away, but that’s just how it goes. We’ve been part of this market for years and plan to stay for many more. The walls might need a bit of paint and the floor is a bit worn, but the shop feels like home to us now.
