Accurate Die Works

Down in Hadiabad, Phagwara, we have our little shop called Accurate Die Works. It’s a bit of a dusty part of town with a lot of small workshops like ours clustered together. We make dies, which is basically cutting and shaping metal for other people to use in their own machines. It’s precision work, even if the shop itself looks a bit old and worn out. The machines have been with us for a long time and we know all their little quirks. There is always a smell of oil and burnt metal in the air here. We don't have a big front office or a reception desk; usually, you just walk right into the work area and find us. Phagwara is a hub for this kind of work, so there is always someone stopping by looking for a specific tool or a replacement part. We spend hours every day hunched over the workbenches making sure things fit just right. Sometimes we make a small mistake and have to start the whole piece over, which is frustrating but part of the job. Our hands are usually stained with grease and oil by the time lunch rolls around. We eat together in a small corner of the shop where it's a bit quieter. It’s not a fancy life, but we take the work as it comes. People bring us sketches on scraps of paper and we do our best.
