Snehalata Pati

This is Snehalata Pati’s setup here in Swapneswar Pur. I stay with Hrudananda Pati, and we’ve been operating out of our home near Kabir Pur for a while now. It’s right in the Jajpur district of Orissa. Things move at a different pace here than in the big cities, and we like it that way. We don't have a corporate building or a glossy brochure. Mostly, it’s just me and the family managing the day-to-day requirements. Our pincode is 755009 if you’re looking us up on a map. Life in Swapneswar Pur is mostly about knowing your neighbors and doing right by the people who walk through the door. I started this because there was a need for it, and it just grew from there. It’s not always easy, especially when the rains come or the power goes out, but we manage. We aren't trying to change the world, just trying to provide what’s needed locally. People know Hrudananda and me, so they trust us with their business. We don't use big words or make promises we can’t keep. If a job needs doing, we sit down and do it until it’s finished. That’s how we were raised in Jajpur. It’s a practical way of living. We keep our records in order and make sure everything is fair. There’s no secret to it, just staying busy and being part of the community here in Orissa. We just keep going every day.
