We spend our days over at the pump house, which is part of the Fire and Safety department at the first plant in Gurgaon. It’s a specific kind of job, mostly making sure everything is ready just in case something happens. We are here on a contract basis, so we focus on the tasks we’re given each day. The plant is huge and there’s always noise from the machines and people moving around, but our corner near the pumps is a bit more controlled. We check the gauges, look at the pipes, and make sure the safety gear is where it should be. It’s not the kind of work that gets a lot of attention, but it’s important for keeping the place running. The air in the plant can get heavy, especially when the lines are moving fast. We wear our uniforms and just stay on top of the maintenance schedule. Most of the guys here have been working these shifts for a long time, so we know the layout of the pipes like the back of our hands. It’s a lot of routine, really. Checking this, testing that, and signing off on the logs. We don't have much to do with the actual making of the bikes; we just look after the systems that keep the building safe. It's a steady job and we take it serious, even if it's mostly just watching and waiting.
